BREAKS
Saunton - It's primarily a long-board beach which works well on any size wave and is perfect for beginners - but can get heavily blown out in extreme westerly and some south westerly gales.
Down End (Between Saunton and Croyde) - A point break and definitely not for beginners but if you are a beginner/intermediate worth going to watch more experienced surfers here when huge surf comes in as you can get some incredible photos off the rock outcrops.
Croyde Bay - An incredible beach break but definitely one that should be respected especially at Low-tide and watch out for the rips - do not go into Croyde as a beginner - go to Saunton as it is much more forgiving when you (inevitably) make your initial mistakes.
Putsborough - This is an exasperating beach but when it's good it can produce one of the best long-board and short-board waves in the area.
Woolacoombe - Again this is a great beach but can get very big and close out easily.
With all the breaks on the North Devon Coast you should always respect them -the pull on the currents has caused a lot of people to have an embarrassing removal from the sea by the Air/Sea Rescue because they don't appreciate the sea or sadly worse they haven't come back - please take care and have fun.
RAMBLING
In the House we have a number of different local walks that we suggest and also have highlighted with tourist information other places you could go to - remember we are only 20 minutes away from beautiful Exmoor and about an hour from Dartmoor. Also some of the walks along the Coastline are as spectacular as they are exhausting!
